Legal Counsel

Right now, we’re looking for an experienced and highly qualified part-time Legal Counsel to work in our office in Riga or remotely. We require a person who will be able to demonstrate their skills and expertise in providing legal support to the corporate administration department and across the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Advise internal clients on various aspects of Latvian law;

  • Advise on legal issues and risks;

  • Provide legal support to corporate administration department and across the organization;

  • Provide support to operational activities of human resources department across the organization, including but not limited to hiring and orientation support, training program development, human resources policies drafting and support, employee culture & engagement, on boarding, employee relations, compensation & benefits, performance management, compliance and professional development

  • Work on various transactions including intellectual property, due diligence, and commercial contracts regarding Latvian and cross-border deals as assigned;

  • Conduct legal research in various areas of law, including privacy and copyright;

  • Draft and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements;

  • Locate and develop task relevant information for the General Counsel.


Our ideal candidate :

  • Has at least 2 years of professional experience;

  • Holds at least Bachelors Degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized university in EU;

  • Passionate about technology and law, with an inclination to adopt practical and creative solutions;

  • Has an interest in employment law, policies and human resources functions/compliance across all categories;

  • Has ability to understand and apply provisions of laws and regulations both to regular corporate issues and to challenges raised by implementation of technological solutions;

  • Excellent legal research skills;

  • Experience working in an in-house legal department or in a law firm with commercial experience;

  • Demonstrated exercise of good legal judgment with an eye on problem-solving;

  • General experience with word processing software;

  • Comfortable to experiment with new tools and to learn new software;

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the highest level of integrity and professionalism;

  • Ability to work independently in an efficient manner;

  • Demonstrated ability to take a leadership role in case planning or project coordination;

  • Fluent in written and spoken English and Latvian language.
